Dear Friends,

What an exciting year 2009 has been for the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center!

The DSAHRC Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers have worked together to make wonderful things happen in our community. We are looking forward to an even greater year in 2010!

Beyond Our Wildest Dreams Conference in April, saw over 200 families, self-advocates, siblings, and professionals come together to hear nationally-renowned speakers like Dr. Lou Brown and Carrie Bergeron-Desai present the most up-to-date information about Down syndrome. In 2010 we are honored to have Dr. Brian Skotko as one of our expert speakers!

Participation in the 2009 Capital Region Buddy Walk was unprecedented. Over 800 individuals from around the region took part in this awareness event that was educational, fun and most of all, inspiring!

The Capital District Bike Camp, in its fourth year, continues to be one of the most sought-after activities in the area for individuals with developmental disabilities who want to learn to ride a two-wheel bike! The DSAHRC Reading Tutorial Program saw individuals, ages 5 and older, show amazing progress in reading and writing when given this high-quality, individualized reading instruction!

Social Events in 2009 included the Family Dance, featuring FLAME the Band, and the ever-popular teen dance. The 2010 Family Dance, to be held once again the night before our spring conference, will feature the live music of Potential Unlimitied Productions!
